Broadridge Financial Solutions’ distributed ledger repo platform processed $7.2tn in transactions during May, with daily volumes averaging $362bn — a 220 per cent increase compared with the same month last year.

The figures, disclosed by the New York-listed financial technology company on June 8 2026, reflect growing institutional adoption of tokenised settlement systems in capital markets. Distributed ledger technology enables the movement of tokenised securities within existing market infrastructure, potentially improving capital efficiency and reducing operational complexity.

Horacio Barakat, global head of digital innovation at Broadridge, said institutions were seeking ways to improve liquidity efficiency and collateral mobility while maintaining operational simplicity.

The company has recently expanded its tokenisation capabilities beyond repo transactions to support tokenised securities across multiple asset classes, including issuance, trading, settlement and servicing.

Broadridge, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker BR, provides technology and operations platforms that underpin daily trading of more than $15tn in tokenised and traditional securities globally.
