The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association has recommended a full market closure on June 19 2026 for trading of US dollar-denominated fixed income securities in the United States, United Kingdom and Japan.
The closure marks the observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day, a federal holiday in the US.
The recommendation applies to US dollar-denominated government securities, mortgage- and asset-backed securities, over-the-counter investment-grade and high-yield corporate bonds, municipal bonds and secondary money market trading. This includes bankers’ acceptances, commercial paper and Yankee and Euro certificates of deposit.
SIFMA’s guidance is advisory, with member firms retaining discretion over whether to continue trading operations. The association noted that recommendations remain subject to change depending on market conditions.
